31/01/18 - this week we are continuing with fractions in Maths.  In English, the children will be starting a new unit based on the books Holes.

Maths homework 26/01/18 - this is very similar to the work given in Friday's Maths lesson.  Please pick your level of challenge and give it a go!  Any problems please see your teacher.

Homework update:  Maths homework for this week is converting mixed number and improper fractions.  The children have been given a paper copy and it is also attached.  Maths homework should be handed in on Tuesday 23rd January.  Also attached is the termly spelling overview and homework project (both given out at the start of term).  Have a good weekend!

Year 5 homework this week is multiplication (see below), spellings and science task.

During Maths this week, we have been learning about Roman Numerals.  We read numbers up to 2000 by looking at celebrity’s’ birth years.  The children now know all the symbols up to 1000 (M).  Homework has been set to consolidate their learning from class.  If your child is finding the homework difficult, please come and see Mr Kennedy or Mr Round.

Here is some information about the way that we organise spelling in Upper Band and ways you can practise at home.

Today we have been sketching and painting a range of fruit and vegetables as part of our learning about Harvest. Our paintings will be displayed in the Harvest Service at Christ Church.

All the children should now have a reading book and log. Please get in touch if they haven't or if there are any problems with this. Here's a handy guide to help you support your child to make progress in reading...

In topic this week, the children have enjoyed learning about the 5 layers of the earth.  They have read about these layers during guided reading sessions and answered questions about them.  Next week, the children will be learning how and when volcanoes form.  During guided reading the children will also be reading about floods.

Welcome to Puffin Class.

Hi, I am Mr Kennedy.  I have been working at Christ Church Juniors since 2012 but this is my first year in Year 5.  Together with Miss Roseblade, we are looking forward to getting to know the children and ensure every child makes great progress this year.
