Bristol Aerospace

We had a great day at the new Bristol Aerospace museum on Wednesday 7th February. We got to see the last Concorde to fly, learnt about the history of aerospace engineering in Bristol and even made our own rockets! The staff and helpers were all really impressed with the children's enthusiasm, questions and good behaviour throughout the day. Thank you again to Councillor Ian Boulton and the Friends of CCJ for organising and making this trip possible.

Amazing Artwork

During art lessons this term we have been learning about proportion and movement and have worked with pencil, charcoal and pastels. Take a look at some of our final pieces of artwork!

Ancient Greece

This week we have been researching the differences between Athens and Sparta using non-fiction books, the internet and videos. We have practised our note-taking techniques and have gathered lots of information for writing our own non-chronological reports next week. Here are some of the websites we used so you can find out more at home.

Spelling

Here is some information about the way that we organise spelling in Upper Band and ways you can practise at home.

Reading

All the children should now have a reading book and log. Please get in touch if they haven't or if there are any problems with this. Here's a handy guide to help you support your child to make progress in reading...

Meet the Teacher

Hello! I'm Miss Westcott and this is my third year teaching at CCJ but my first year teaching Year 6. I was lucky enough to teach lots of you back in Year 4 and can't wait to get to know you all even more this year. Year 6 is shaping up to be a really exciting year, with loads of fantastic learning, activities and experiences to come. Bring it on!
